MINI HAGGADAH
with all 15 Steps of the Seder

Haggadah means narration (of the Passover Story). This is the longer version of our “Passover Made Simple”, also found here, followed by commentary on the 4 cups of wine & cup of Elijah; print this for your Seder. Along with a Bible, it may be used in place of a Haggadah. For a simplified Seder & the minimal Biblical requirements for a Seder see “Passover Made Simple” in this booklet.

INTRODUCTION

Seder is pronounced “say-der” (Ashkenazi) or “seh-der” (Modern) and it means “order”, in this case, of the Passover Seder – which is a festive meal that commemorates not only the Exodus from Egypt but also the Redemptive Work of the Messiah, YAHUSHUA, HIS death, burial and resurrection. Most of the elements of the Modern Seder are based on the commandments in the Bible concerning the Passover, but the order of the Seder as we know it today, was not set until after YAHUSHUA had been on earth. The steps given here are adapted from the Modern Jewish liturgy, but with the added recognition and emphasis on YAHUSHUA as the Lamb of GOD.

This mini-Haggadah is meant as a guide only – to loosely follow or altogether skip unnecessary steps. It is not always possible to follow everything given here, although this is an already shortened outline of a more full Haggadah. We’ve included notes throughout showing which steps, or parts thereof are entirely optional. We recommend skipping steps or parts of steps as you see fit. GOD judges the intentions of the heart, not the elaborations of our Passover Seder. The Seder is meant to be interactive and memorable, not boring.

Before the Seder it is customary to light Festival candles, in the same fashion as Shabbat Candles. In Modern Judaism an official Seder contains these 15 steps, given in a Hebrew rhyme which is often sung to start a Seder: “Kadesh, Urchatz, Karpas, Yachatz, Maggid, Rachatz, Motzi, Matzah, Maror, Korech, Shulchan Orech, Tzafun, Barech, Hallel, Nirtzah”. The literal translation is “Sanctify and Wash, Greens, Break, Tell/Narrate, Wash, Bring Forth, Matzah, Bitter Herbs, Sandwich/Wrap, Prepared Table, Hidden, Blessing, Praise, Acceptance”.

Throughout the Seder, four types of Redemption are represented by the “Four Cups” of wine, which are emphasized throughout this booklet in red. Therefore, we’ve incorporated Holy Communion into this Haggadah. The “Lord’s Supper”, part of a Passover Seder, was a communion. See the explanation on the four cups later in this booklet. This is not drinking to intoxication. GOD warns strongly against this! After the Seder it is customary to discuss the Exodus, Passover observances or recite/study Scriptures such as the Song of Solomon in particular. The hand washing element is also seen in the Last Supper, but as YAHUSHUA washing the feet of others, instead of the hands. You may want to incorporate washing of the feet into your Passover Celebrations. Before or after the Seder is most ideal.

PREPARATION

Part I: Remove leaven...

…from the house, apartment or room if you live with parents or others who are not celebrating. This means taking out any yeasted bread, cookies, crackers, anything with leavening agents in them such as yeast, baking soda or baking powder. Leaven symbolizes sin and corruption. (I Cor. 5:6-8).

Part II: What you will need

Days before Passover, make sure you have all the items you will need. In the afternoon before the Seder begins, the table should arranged with these items, including having the table set for dinner.

1.     Haggadahs OR (as we prefer) Bibles, and Seder lists (like this one) for everyone, or at least, one for whomever leads the Passover Seder and enough to share.

2.     *Optional 2 candles or oil lamps to be used as Festival/Shabbat candles

3.     *Optional hand washing bowl(s) and cloths. (No soap – use only water).

4.     Wine (or Juice) & Glasses, 1 per person (wine is poured 4x) + 1 extra glass for “Elijah”

5.     3 Pieces Matzot or Unleavened Bread wrapped in a cloth and may also be placed on it’s own platter/plate. Larger groups need more matzot placed nearby. (Matzah = one, and matzot = plural, more than once matzah).

6.      “Seder Plate” (any clean plate can be used) with the following:

                                           i.      *Optional Green Vegetable (Karpas) i.e. Celery or Parsley

ii.      Bitter Herbs (Maror): Romaine Lettuce is okay or Horseradish (Chazeret)

iii.      *Optional Homemade Charoset*–It is usually made of apple pieces & wine, variations on the recipe may add honey, fruit, nuts and spices. A basic recipe is cut an apple into chunks, 1 TB chopped nuts, dash of wine or grape juice, 1 tsp cinnamon.). Invent your own recipe, or search for one you like online.

iv.      *Optional Lamb Bone* (Z’roa) – only for display

                                         v.      *Optional Roasted egg* (may be hard boiled) – to be eaten at the end of step #10, starts step #11

7.     *Optional Salt Water in a small dish (mix water w/table salt) for dipping of Karpas.

8.     *Optional lamb-based Dinner with dinnerware.

*We suggest using all these items for a full experience, but some are listed as optional because the Bible does not absolutely command the use of the bone and egg, neither the eating of Charoset and Karpas dipped in saltwater. The Torah does not command the use of wine/grape juice, but we know by example to use it because in the gospels YAHUSHUA took wine at least twice, once before and once after the Last Supper.

Part III: Celebrate the Passover

If you would feel overwhelmed by following the more detailed instructions of the Haggadah, follow the instructions here, under “Passover Made Simple” for a shorter Seder. Otherwise, review the below, but also look further to the “Mini Haggadah” for a more detailed re-telling of the Passover with a focus on YAHUSHUA and Communion being highlighted.

PASSOVER MADE SIMPLE
including MINIMAL BIBLICAL REQUIREMENTS

To meet the Biblical requirements for a Seder, only steps 1, 4, 5, 8, 12-15 as given below must be included but the 2nd & 3rd cups and Elijah cup are optional. (In other words, you may skip steps 2-3, 6-7, & 10-11; the 2nd & 3rd cups and Elijah cup may also be skipped. The order of some of the steps may also be changed).

Note: each “cup” of wine does not need to be a full cup. An alternative is to pour only a tablespoon or so each time, or dilute the wine in a pitcher - ready to pour.

Opening Steps 1-4: Sanctify the Evening and Prepare for Maggid

Body of the Seder, Steps 5-11: Telling the Story and Eating the Food of the Exodus

Closing, Steps 12-15: Seal the Seder with Praise and Prayer

1.     Begin Seder with prayer and wine blessing:

a.      Pour 1st cup of wine or grape juice. (Don’t drink yet)

b.     Begin with a prayer of thanks to our Heavenly FATHER ABBA YAHUVEH for all HE has done for us and will do for us, HIS Children, as HE protects us and watches over us through all the trials of our life and to HIS SON YAHUSHUA our MASHIACH and soon coming BRIDEGROOM for HIS Salvation for us on Calvary and to IMMAYAH our Heavenly MOTHER who watches over us and guides and leads us in every step we take if we but obey.

c.      Say the blessing over the wine. Example: “Blessed are YOU ABBA YAHUVEH, our Heavenly FATHER and CREATOR of the universe, CREATOR of the fruit of the vine. YOU have made us Holy through the shed Blood of YOUR SON YAHUSHUA our MASHIACH. YOU have brought us safely thus far and we thank YOU for guiding and leading us every day of our lives. We give YOU all Praise, Honour and Glory now and forever! Blessed be the Name of YAHUVEH GOD ALMIGHTY! The Name of YAHUSHUA our MASHIACH and IMMAYAH, MOMMA SHKHINYAH GLORY, our Beloved RUACH HA KODESH, the only QUEEN of Heaven!” (Please add your own prayers.)

d.     Drink wine or grape juice.

2.     Wash/rinse hands

3.     Dip parsley into salt water and eat explaining that the salt water reminds us of the tears the Jews cried in Egypt and the greens are a symbol of the coming of Spring which brings hope.

4.     Break middle Matzah in two, saying, this is the body of the Lord broken for us. (Usually none is eaten now. Save the larger broken piece for “afikomen” in step # 12, put the rest back).

5.     Introduce and tell the Story of Passover over 2nd cup of wine:

a        Hold up matzah saying, this is the bread of affliction which our forefathers ate in the land of Egypt.

b        Pour and pray blessing over 2nd cup. (Don’t drink yet)

c        Tell the Passover Story. (or you may list the 10 plagues [see Exodus 7:14 –ch 11] and then read Exodus 11 – 15).

d        Optional: read Psalm113-114

e        Drink 2nd cup.

6.     Wash hands again. You may say a blessing.

7.     Say general prayer over food.

Blessed are you YAHUVEH our GOD, King of the Universe,

Who brings forth food from the earth

Blessed are You, YAHUVEH our GOD King of the Universe,

Who has sanctified us with His commandments and has commanded us to eat the matzah/unleavened bread and maror/bitter herbs for Passover.

8.     Eat matzah, explaining the matzah, or unleavened bread is also a reminder of the haste with which the Jews left Egypt on the night of Passover because the bread did not have time to rise.

9.     Eat bitter herbs, explaining the Egyptians “embittered” or made bitter, disagreeable, the lives of the Jews who we are also as we are grafted into the vine through YAHUSHUA. (Rom. 11:17-19) “And they embittered their lives with hard labour: with mortar and bricks, with every kind of work in the fields; all the work which they made them do was rigorous.” (Ex. 1:14)

10. Eat maror and matzah together. This is usually dipped in the charoset.

11. Eat egg dipped in salt water and then eat dinner. The egg may be eaten at the beginning of the Passover meal or by itself if you are not eating a meal. It is a symbol of the suffering and oppression in Egypt. Everything else in boiling water becomes soft or disintegrates but an egg becomes hard like the Israelites. The more it is boiled, the harder it becomes. An egg also symbolizes new life. Additionally, YAHUVEH has revealed to Prophet Elisabeth Elijah that the 3 parts of the TRINITY are like the egg – each is distinct and yet part of the whole. As ABBA YAHUVEH has said to Elisabeth, “Which part of the egg is the egg? Is it the shell? The white or the yolk?” Of course it is all three – each distinct and yet each making up the whole, the egg. Amazing, isn’t it?

12. Return afikomen and eat of it remembering it represents the Lord’s body.

13. Pray over 3rd cup of wine:

a        Pour 3rd cup.

b        Read Psalm 126 “Those who sow in tears, will reap with joy unceasing!...”

c        Pray Grace after Meals (an abbreviated version is okay)

d        Bless and drink 3rd cup.

e        Pour the 4th cup and the cup of Elijah. (Do not drink yet). Pray for the prayer of Elijah: GOD to restore all things, to hasten the coming of YAHUSHUA and take vengeance on HIS enemies.

14. Praise.

a        Praise session. Optional: read Psalm 115-118. Thank YOU ABBA YAHUVEH for the victory over all the things in our lives that are not of YOU in the Name of YAHUSHUA our MASHIACH!

b        Bless and drink the 4th cup.

More praise and prayer that GOD accepts the Seder and is pleased.

THE BLOOD OF YAHUSHUA
the Four Cups of Wine

The Blood of the Lamb made the Passover possible (Exodus 12). We know that YAHUSHUA’s Blood, as HE is the true Lamb of GOD, has bought our freedom and it is our ONLY Salvation. At the Last Supper, YAHUSHUA taught us that the Passover wine was a symbol of HIS Blood, the Blood of the Renewed Covenant, poured out for many for the remission of sins; that as often as we would drink of it, we should remember HIS Sacrifice.

Taking time during the Seder to sing traditional Passover songs, but also traditional songs and hymns about the Blood of YAHUSHUA is definitely worth while. Songs such as “There is Power in the Blood”, “Now Behold the Lamb”, “Nothing but the Blood”, “There is a Fountain”, “The Blood will Never Loose it’s Power” among others about the Cross and the Blood are good choices. You may spontaneously add songs into your Seder thru the night. We suggest adding  such songs while going over any or each of the “Four Cups”. (See more on the Four Cups later in this booklet).

HAGGADAH OVERVIEW

MINI HAGGADAH

The 15 Steps in Detail

The Seder is led by one particular person, but others should be doing various blessings, prayers, readings and we encourage others to also have the opportunity to lead certain steps throughout the Seder. The Passover is meant to be interactive. This makes the Story come alive.

Festival Lights/Candles

This is optional to do as the sun sets, before your Seder.

Light the Festival Candles/Lights at the table and say a blessing/prayer, usually done by a woman. You may read the following - if it is a Friday night, add the parts in parenthesis () :

Blessed are YOU, YAHUVEH, our GOD, KING of the Universe,

Who has sanctified us with HIS Commandments and has commanded us to kindle the flame of the (Shabbat and the) Festival and to let our Light shine before men: YAHUSHUA ha MASHIACH (the Lord of the Shabbat) and the Light of the World.

Blessed are YOU, YAHUVEH our GOD, KING of the Universe,

Who has kept us alive, sustained us and brought to this season.

The 15 Steps

In some communities, it is customary to sing these to start the Seder: “Kadesh, Urchatz, Karpas, Yachatz, Maggid, Rachatz, Motzi, Matzah, Maror, Korech, Sulchan Orech, Tzafun, Barech, Hallel, Nirtzah”. The literal English translation is in the Introduction of this booklet. Singable-English versions can be found online.

OPENING STEPS:
 Kadesh* Urchatz, Karpas, Yachatz

Sanctify the Evening and Prepare for Maggid

1.    “Kadesh”* (Sanctify)

This step is not optional, but parts of it are optional. The only necessary part of the “Recite Kiddush” section found on the following page is [a] the Fruit of the Vine blessing.

·        Say out loud, over the un-poured wine:

YAHUSHUA spoke of this wine saying,

“This is MY Blood of the Covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins” (Mark 14:24). “Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Cor 11:25).

·        Pour “the 1st cup” of wine/juice for one another. (Drink later). Say: “This is the first of the four cups. It is called “the cup of Sanctification” for GOD said: I am YAHUVEH, and I will take you out ...”.

·        Recite Kiddush over the wine to sanctify the Holy Day, Reciting the full, traditional Kiddush is optional, so skip any of the following as you see fit:

§        Optional for a Friday night, read Genesis 1:31-2:3 to start. Otherwise skip and go on].

a)     Do the Fruit of the Vine blessing:

Blessed are YOU YAHUVEH, our GOD, KING of the universe,

Who creates the fruit of the vine and has made us Holy through the shed Blood of YOUR SON YAHUSHUA our MASHIACH.

b)     Optional: Do the Holiday Eve Kiddush. [Include the words in parenthesis () below if it is a Friday night].

Blessed are YOU, YAHUVEH our GOD, KING of the Universe,
Who chose us from all the nations, elevated us above all tongues,

Who sanctified us with His commandments and lovingly gave us (Sabbaths for rest), appointed times for happiness, festivals and seasons for joy; and

this Day of (Shabbat and) Passover, the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the season of our Freedom – a holy convocation to remember the Exodus from Egypt and the ONE and ONLY Salvation, YOUR SON, YAHUSHUA ha MASHIACH, the true Passover Lamb. Because You chose us [...and we did not choose you - John 15:16].

Blessed are YOU, YAHUVEH, our GOD, Who sanctifies (the Shabbat and) Israel and the holy times.

c)      Optional for a Saturday night (On other days, skip). Havdalah blessing:

Blessed are YOU, YAHUVEH our GOD, KING of the Universe,

Who creates the brightness of the fire and has given us YOUR HOLY SPIRIT, YOUR SHKNYAH GLORY in our hearts by YOUR SON, YAHUSHUA ha MASHIACH.

Blessed are YOU, YAHUVEH our GOD, KING of the Universe,

Who distinguishes between sacred and secular, between light and darkness, between Israel and the nations, between the Seventh Day, the Shabbat Day, and the six days of work. You have distinguished between the holiness of the Shabbat and the holiness of a Festival and have sanctified the Seventh Day, the Shabbat Day, above the six days of work. You distinguished and sanctified YOUR people, Israel with YOUR Holiness in the Blood of YOUR SON, YAHUSHUA ha MASHIACH.

Blessed are YOU, YAHUVEH our GOD, KING of the Universe,

Who distinguishes between Holiness and holiness. (Lev 19:2; 1 Sam 2:2) There is no one HOLY as YOU are HOLY: FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT.

d)     Optional: Do with this blessing. (This blessing was done in the Festival Candle blessing portion, if you did it):

Blessed are you YAHUVEH, our GOD, KING of the Universe,

Who has kept us alive, sustained us and brought us to this season.

·        Optional: read John 15-ch 16:15 about the true Vine etc. Treat this as when you otherwise take communion: remember the Blood of YAHUSHUA; make sure to examine your heart, repenting of any known sin.
(Don’t take the bread now. Take the bread later in step #4).

·        Say: “This is the first of the four cups. It is called “the cup of Sanctification” for GOD said: I am YAHUVEH, and I will take you out ...”; and

YAHUSHUA spoke of this wine saying,

“This is MY Blood of the Covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins” (Mark 14:24). “Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Cor 11:25).

Drink the “1st cup” of wine or grape juice. Remember, whether you officially incorporate this as “communion”, this cup still does symbolize the Blood of YAHUSHUA. Do this with a repentant spirit.

If doing communion, you may choose to skip steps #2-3, but come back to them after doing step #4; then continue with the Seder as usual with step #5.

2.   “Urchatz” (and Wash)

This step is optional. Briefly wash hands in prepared bowl before eating. (No blessing is usually said over this hand washing, but it symbolizes the Cleansing Power in YAHUSHUA’s Blood).

You may say:

Blessed are you YAHUVEH, our GOD, KING of the Universe,

Who makes us clean by the Water of the Word

And the Blood of YOUR SON, YAHUSHUA haMASHIACH

3.   “Karpas” (Green Vegetable)

This step is optional.

·        If incorporating communion here, read John 16:16 to verse 33.

·        Explain the karpas and saltwater. You may read this: the saltwater reminds us of the tears the Jews cried in Egypt and the greens/karpas are a symbol of hope and Springtime, the season we are now entering. Together the karpas and saltwater mean that “they who sow in tears shall reap in joy” (Psalm 126:5). When HE gave us communion at Passover time, YAHUSHUA promised us: “Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful - BUT your sorrow will be turned into joy” (John 16:20). This is a promise in communion. Remember, YAHUSHUA suffered in our place to bring us new life and joy. Sometimes we must also suffer for HIM, but if we share in HIS suffering, we also share in HIS Victory and will have an eternal reward. This is why we partake of the bread and wine. And we remember HIM also in this Karpas dipped in saltwater.

·        Recite blessing over karpas, example:

Blessed are YOU, YAHUVEH our GOD, KING of the Universe,

Who creates the fruit (produce) of the earth; and

Who creates in us the fruit of the HOLY SPIRIT - though we are the dust of the earth.

·        Everyone dip his/her karpas in saltwater, and eat. (Make sure you to eat the karpas and leave the maror for later).

4.   “Yachatz” (Break)

1.     Pick up the platter of 3 matzot, hold it out and say:

YAHUSHUA spoke of this bread saying:

“Take, eat: this is MY Body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me”

2.     break the middle of the 3 matzot in two.

3.     Then [a] wrap the larger piece in cloth and put it aside., and [b] return the smaller piece. (Optional: Hide the larger piece properly between now and dinner, so children can find it as part of step 12. This hidden, wrapped piece is the “afikomen” John  1.6:16 saved for later use -as the ‘desert’ at the end of the meal).

4.     Optional: If doing a communion, use the smaller piece [b] now for communion bread and complete communion in your usual way.

5.          Finally, pick up and hold out the original matzot platter of 3 matzot, while you read from the next step, “Maggid”…

BODY OF THE SEDER
Telling the Story and Eating the Food of the Exodus

The Narration of the Exodus

5.   Maggid (Narrate/Tell)

Introduction to the Passover Narration

·        Say “HaLachma Anya” (the Bread of Affliction), while holding the Matzot:

Short: This is the bread of affliction that our fathers ate in the land of Egypt; or

Long: This is the bread of affliction that our fathers ate in the land of Egypt. Whoever is hungry – let him come and eat! Whoever is needy – let him come and celebrate Passover! Now, we are here; next year may we be in the in the Messianic Kingdom, the Kingdom of Heaven! Now we are in earthly bodies, next year may we be in glorified bodies! Now, we are here; next year may we be in the Land of Israel! Now, we are slaves; next year may we be free men!

This may be followed by singing the song of the same name.

·        Pour the “2nd cup”. (Drink later). Say:

YAHUSHUA spoke of this wine saying,

“This is MY Blood of the Covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins” (Mark 14:24). “Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Cor 11:25).

Say: This is the second of the four cups. It is called “the cup of Judgment and Deliverance” for GOD said “I will deliver you ...”

·        Optional: Say “Ma Nishtana” (What is different?). Now the youngest able child usually asks “the 4 questions”. This is also a song.

Youngest child asks “Why is this night different from all other nights?” with the below 4 questions until each is asked. An adult answers with the given response.

1.     On all other nights we may eat leaven (hametz) and matzah, but on this night only matzah?

We eat only matzah because God commanded us to & to remember once we were poor slaves, and we left Egypt in haste; there was no time for the bread to rise.

2.     On all other nights we may eat vegetables, but on this night we eat maror?

We eat maror (bitter herbs) because God commanded us to do this and remember the bitterness of slavery

3.     On all other nights we do not dip even once, but on this night twice?

This tradition, dipping twice, reminds us: in Egypt we cried many tears & laboured as slaves, but now we live as free men.

4.     On all other nights we eat either sitting or reclining, but on this night we all recline?

This is a tradition, we eat comfortably to remember that once we were slaves, but now we are free.

·        Say the “Avadim Hayinu”, which is also a song:

Short: “We were slaves, but now we are free…”; or

Long: “We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt and YAHUVEH our God brought us out from there with a strong hand and an outstretched arm…”

·        Optional: “Vehi SheAmda”, which is also a song:

o       Read Josh 24:2-4 about our forefathers in idolatry; and

o       Read Gen 15:13-14 about God’s promise to Abraham & recite “Vehi SheAmda” (And this has stood)]:

And it is this [promise] that has stood for our Forefathers and for us. For not just one enemy has stood against us to wipe us out. But in every generation there have been those who have stood against us to wipe us out, and the Holy One Blessed Be He saves us from their hands.

Retelling of Passover & the Exodus:

·        Read Deut 26:5-8 (and/or take turns reading from longer Acts 7:2-36); then

·        Tell everyone: now we list the 10 Plagues and at the same time, for each of the 10 Plagues, we’ll drip a drop of wine from our cups onto our empty dinner plates using a finger or utensil. These are the 10 plagues: Blood, Frogs, Vermin, Wild Beasts, Pestilence, Boils, Hail, Locusts, Darkness, and Plague of the Firstborn (Ex. 7-12);

·        Remind everyone, say: YAHUSHUA bore the Full wrath of GOD in our place, causing YAH’s Wrath to pass over us onto HIM, that is why YAHUSHUA is the Passover Lamb. YAHUVEH said that when HE saw the Blood of the LAMB, HE would Pass over us. As you look at the wine spilled on your plate, remember just one drop of YAHUSHUA’s blood would have been enough to wash the sins of all humanity away - if only they would receive it, but look and realize how much more HE gave, HE emptied HIS arteries and veins, and these 10 drops are but a tiny shadow of that. These 10 drops symbolize the full wrath of GOD, the punishment YAHUSHUA took in our place, all the curses for disobedience placed on YAHUSHUA for every time we have violated GOD’s laws as represented by the 10 commandments. The ultimate fulfillment of Passover is in YAHUSHUA and this is why, we remember so often HIS body and blood, on this night, the night of the Pass over. Now, we tell the story of the Exodus...

·        Either summarize or take turns reading from Exodus chapters 11–15 to verse 21.

Closing & Contemplation of the Narration

·        Optional: Praise with Psalm 113-114

·        Pray that God will protect and preserve HIS children into the future. Pray as led.

·        Bless and drink “2nd cup”: Say: This is the second of the four cups. It is called “the cup of Judgment and Deliverance” for GOD said “I will deliver you ...”

YAHUSHUA spoke of this wine saying,

“This is MY Blood of the Covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins” (Mark 14:24). “Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Cor 11:25).

Blessed are YOU YAHUVEH, our GOD, KING of the universe,

Who creates the fruit of the vine and has made us Holy through the shed Blood of YOUR SON YAHUSHUA our MASHIACH.

Foods of the Exodus
Rachatz, Motzi & Matzah, Maror, Korech

Prepare to partake of food with steps 6 & 7.

6.   Rachatz (Wash)

This step is optional: Wash hands with a blessing.

Blessed are you YAHUVEH, our GOD, KING of the Universe,

Who makes us clean by the Water of the Word and by the Blood of YOUR SON, YAHUSHUA haMASHIACH

7.   Motzi (Bring Forth)

This step is optional: Say usual prayer over the food that is to be eaten:

Blessed are you YAHUVEH our GOD, King of the Universe,

Who brings forth food from the earth

8.   Matzah (Unleavened Bread)

·        Explain: Matzah reminds us that we, Israel, left Egypt in haste (the bread did not have time to rise) and reminds us of the affliction. Leaven, what makes the bread rise, is also a picture of sin. YAHUSHUA is without sin and so HE is represented by the Unleavened Bread and the Manna which comes down from Heaven. It is said “a little leaven, leavens the whole lump”. GOD desires us to live in the truth and holiness - with out compromise; therefore, during these days of this Festival we do not partake of leaven. This reminds us to walk in Holiness before GOD ALMIGHTY. And so we also partake of the body of the Lord, the bread of communion.

·        Hold up the matzot platter, say below blessing for Matzah and everyone eats a piece. (Do not take out the afikoman yet, wait for step #12)

YAHUSHUA spoke of this bread saying:

“Take, eat: this is MY Body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me”

Blessed are You, YAHUVEH our GOD King of the Universe,

Who has sanctified us with His commandments and has commanded us to eat the matzah/unleavened bread for Passover.

9.   Maror (Bitter Herbs)

·        Explain: bitter herbs remind us of the our former lives as slaves. The Torah says “[the Egyptians] embittered their lives with hard labor: with mortar and bricks, with every kind of work in the fields; all the work which they made them do was rigorous.” (Ex. 1:14). When we partake of sin, we are a slave to it, which makes our lives bitter. We take this time to remember what GOD has freed us from.

·        Say blessing for Maror and everyone eats it (usually dipped into charoset/apple mixture):

Blessed are You, YAHUVEH our GOD King of the Universe,

Who has sanctified us with HIS commandments and has commanded us to eat the moror/bitter herbs for Passover

10.         Korech (Sandwich/Wrap)

Optional: eat matzah, bitter herbs [and charoset/apple mixture] all together.

DINNER

11.         Shulchan Orech (Prepared Table)

All parts of this step are optional, although it is easy to incorporate a meal into the Seder. We highly recommend NOT to skip the lamb bone portion of this step - to take a moment to recognize no meat of a sacrificed lamb is present during the Seder by discussing the lamb bone and it’s significance.

·        Point out the lamb bone and egg, explain: the Jerusalem Talmud suggests that on Passover, the egg and bone be presented to YAH with the words: “Please, GOD, lift us up from slavery!” The hard-boiled egg represents the festival offering brought in the days of the Holy Temple, which constituted the main part of this Passover meal. The bone represents the special Paschal sacrifice first done before the Exodus from Egypt, and later every year, on the afternoon before Passover, in the Holy Temple. Both the festival offering and the Pascal sacrifice find their ultimate fulfillment in YAHUSHUA our MASHIACH. When we say “GOD lift us up from slavery”, we speak also of the final redemption - the return of YAHUSHUA, when YAHUVEH restores all things - including the land and people of Israel.

·        Explain the egg further: The hard boiled egg is a symbol of sacrifice, and the suffering and oppression in Egypt. Everything else in boiling water becomes soft or disintegrates but an egg becomes well formed as Israel in times of trouble learns to depend on GOD. An egg also symbolizes new life just as YAHUSHUA arose from the dead and we are promised the resurrection and eternal life, without end. Just as the egg has it’s round shape, so is GOD - without beginning and end. YAHUVEH has revealed to Prophet Elisabeth Elijah that the 3 parts of the TRINITY are like the egg – each is distinct and yet part of the whole. As ABBA YAHUVEH has said to Elisabeth, “Which part of the egg is the egg? Is it the shell? The white or the yolk?” Of course it is all three – each distinct and yet each making up the whole, the egg. Amazing, isn’t it? The egg symbolizes many other things. Do you know of any others? [If anyone wishes to speak, allow time]. Now we each take a piece of the egg.

·        Everyone eats of the egg.

·        Explain the meaning of the lamb bone: we call this bone “Z’roa”, which means arm for it is said “with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm” GOD has redeemed us. YAHUSHUA is the Passover Lamb and the Arm of the LORD, for HE is seated at the right hand of YAHUVEH and redeems us.

·        Eat the prepared meal, if you have incorporated it into the Seder. Traditionally no more food is to be eaten after the next step, so the entire meal should be eaten now and is sealed/completed with the next step.

CLOSING OF THE SEDER

Tzafun, Barech*, Hallel*, Nirtzah – The Conclusion

12.         Tzafun (Hidden)

·        Optional: Young children may be sent to search for the afikoman and receive a small prize for finding it.

·        Show the afikoman, the piece of matzah that was hidden earlier. Explain it’s symbolism: Remember, the body of the LORD YAHUSHUA. This is the same bread of which HE said “This is my body broken for you”. Tell everyone: Break a piece for yourself, but do not eat it yet. Pass it around. Even a piece the size of an olive is large enough.

·        Explain it’s meaning further as it is passed around: This afikoman completes our meal. It is the desert and is as communion bread. We eat it last to remember the taste of this sacred bread. In all of Judaism, it is considered a substitute for the Passover Sacrifice. We know YAHUSHUA is the true Lamb of GOD and Passover Lamb. As the afikoman was wrapped in linen, hidden and then later revealed, it is a picture of YAHUSHUA’s death, burial and the revelation of HIS Resurrection Power, a picture of HIS Ascension and HIS Victory over sin, death, hell and the grave, a picture of HIS Second Coming - when HE returns, HIS reward will be with HIM - when HE comes as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah and defeats the final enemy, bringing All things into submission to HIM. YAHUSHUA said, “I won't eat this meal again until its meaning is fulfilled in the Kingdom of GOD” (Luke 22:16). We remember that although HE has gone, HE will return from Heaven! HE has prepared a place for us there! This afikoman is the promise of things to come! Let us partake of the body of the LORD, that we may partake of HIS coming Glory and HIS the promise to return for us!

·        Everyone eats their piece, thus completing the meal. Give everyone enough time.

13.         Barech (Blessing)

·        Say over the un-poured wine:

YAHUSHUA spoke of this wine saying,

“This is MY Blood of the Covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins” (Mark 14:24). “Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me” (1 Cor 11:25).

·        Pour 3rd cup. (Don’t drink now).

Say: This is the third of the four cups. It is called the cup of Redemption for GOD said, “I will redeem you (with an outstretched arm)”.

·        Read Psalm 126. Pray Grace after Meals; and say: This is the third of the four cups. It is called the cup of Redemption for GOD said, “I will redeem you ...”;

·        Drink 3rd cup.

·        Pour the 4th cup. (Don’t drink now). Pour the single Cup of Elijah at the same time, but do not drink.

·        Say: These are the last of the cups. The fourth cup is called the cup of Restoration and Praise for GOD said, “I will take you to ME for a people, and I will be your GOD”; and with it, the cup of Elijah for YAHUSHUA said, “Surely, Elijah comes and will restore all things”. (Optional: Open a door and say: “we do this expecting the coming of Elijah and the return of the Messiah”. “Eliyahu haNavi” may be sung now. [Close door later in the next step #14 when the 4th cup is drunk]).

·        Say over Elijah’s Cup: The cup of Elijah is drunk only by Elijah and the Messiah for GOD said, “Behold, I will send MY messenger, who will prepare the way before ME. Then suddenly the Lord [YAHUSHUA] whom you are seeking will come to HIS Temple; the Messenger of the Covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says YAHUVEH Almighty... HE [YAHUSHUA] will purify the Levites...and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the LORD YAHUVEH, as in days gone by, as in former years...Remember, the law of MY servant Moses...for ALL Israel. Behold, I will send you Elijah the Prophet before the coming of the Great and Dreadful Day of YAHUVEH. He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers”.

·        As a group, pray over the cup of Elijah asking GOD to destroy HIS enemies as you are led. The liturgy also gives this prayer:

Pour your wrath upon the nations that do not recognize YOU and upon the kingdoms that do not invoke YOUR NAME. For they have devoured Jacob and destroyed his Habitation. Pour your anger upon them and let your fiery wrath overtake them. Pursue them with wrath and annihilate them from beneath the Heavens of YAHUVEH.

14.         Hallel (Praise)

·        Praise session. (This usually contains Psalm 115-118. What you do is up to you).

·        Say over the 4th cup: As we close our Seder, let us remember the words of YAHUSHUA, HE said, “I will not drink again of this Fruit of the Vine, until the kingdom of God comes, that Day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom” (Matt 26:29; Luke 22:18). This is the last of the four cups. It is called the cup of Restoration and Praise - for GOD said, “I will take you to ME for a people, and I will be your GOD”.

Who creates the fruit of the vine and makes us Holy through the shed Blood of YOUR SON YAHUSHUA our MASHIACH.

·        Drink the 4th cup. (No one but Elijah of the Messiah drinks the cup of Elijah. It is a reminder of the coming restoration of all things).

15.         Nirtzah (Acceptance)

·        Optional: as a group, recount and praise GOD for the miracles that occurred in night, or the midnight hour (such as the angel of death passing over).

·        Optional: recount and praise GOD for the miracles that have occurred during the Feast of Unleavened Bread (such as the death of Haman and his ten sons, the parting of the Reed Sea, the death, burial, resurrection of YAHUSHUA)

·        Optional: praise and sing songs; it is customary to sing “Adir Hu”, “Echad Mi Yodea” & “Chad Gadya”.

·        Say a prayer asking GOD to accept the Seder. The Seder usually ends with the words “Le Shanah Haba Be Yerushalayim”, which is also a song ( meaning, next year in Jerusalem!) You may say instead: Next year may we be in the Heavenly Jerusalem! This ends the Seder.

(Sometimes more is done after: songs are sung, the Exodus, the Feast of Unleavened Bread discussed, Shavuot/Pentecost anticipated, the Song of Songs read, or the Scriptures studied into the late hours, for example).

THE FOUR CUPS
and the cup of Elijah

Traditionally in the Passover Seder four cups of wine or grape juice are consumed throughout the Seder though this is not mandated by YAHUVEH, but YAHUSHUA is recorded as having used wine as an integral part of HIS Seder. Here, we must add GOD would NEVER tell you to get drunk, intoxication must be avoided. We suggest replacing the wine altogether with juice if there is an issue. The Four Cups are said to represent the four types of redemption ABBA YAHUVEH uses in describing the Jews’ exodus from Egypt as written in Ex. 6: 6-7. These four cups also represent the Blood of YAHUSHUA. Therefore, instead full cups, we highly suggest either giving small symbolic portions (like 1 tablespoon) for each of the “Four Cups”, or dilute the wine in a pitcher - ready to pour. Watered down wine or grape juice may be preferable to regular wine. (Ancient wine did not have the alcohol content it has today and it was the custom of the Ancient Romans, Greeks and Israelites to dilute their wine several times over. Also remember that yeast, which is prohibited during Passover, is what gives wine a high alcohol content).

5 - The Cup of Elijah

[poured w/ 3rd or 4th cup, and drunk by Elijah only]

Exodus 6:8 – Malachi 4:4-6

And I will bring you to the land (which I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob), and I will give it to you (as an inheritance)

*In the gospels, YAHUSHUA is recorded as taking the wine at least twice, once before and after the Passover meal. It is important to realize that participating in a Passover Seder for a Messianic Jew contains the elements of communion and you must examine your heart as you would otherwise do.

There is also a 5th cup of wine called, “The Cup of Elijah.” This cup is poured but not drunk and the door opened in anticipation of the coming of Elijah the Prophet to announce the MESSIAH, the MASHIACH, YAHUSHUA. The Prophet Elijah is considered the bearer of good tidings of joy and peace. The name of Elijah is associated with the coming of the MASHIACH, whose advent Elijah is expected to announce. We read: “I will send you the Prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers;” (Malachi 4:4-6a)

Jewish tradition has it that Elijah visits every Jewish home at the Seder and sips the cup. When Israel was exiled from the land, the cup of Elijah was filled, but not drunk. It remains on the table as a sign of ABBA YAHUVEH’S further Messianic promise of renewal. YAHUSHUA said of John the Baptist in Mark 9:13 & Matthew 11:14:

“And they asked HIM (YAHUSHUA), ‘Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?’
YAHUSHUA replied, ‘To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the SON of YAHUVEH must suffer much and be rejected? But I tell you, Elijah has come, and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.’” “For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. He who has ears, let him hear.”

“Elijah has come” - This was true in the person of John the Baptist who heralded YAHUSHUA’S coming when HE came to earth 2000+ years ago. Scripture promises that as John the Baptist was sent with the anointing of Elijah to prepare the way for the LORD YAHUSHUA’s First Coming, Elijah would also come to prepare the way for the Return of the LORD. Who is this End Time Elijah, a person, with the mantle of the first Elijah of Old, like John the Baptist?

“Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.   “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that Great and Dreadful Day of the LORD comes.  He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.” (Malachi 4).

Elijah of New?

Prophet Elisabeth Elijah, whom YAHUVEH used to birth this ministry, not only carries the same birth name as the Prophet Elijah of Old, but also carries the same anointing: calling YAHUVEH’s children back HIM; calling on the LORD GOD by HIS NAME, YAH, rather than as Ba’al (“Lord”) only; reminding us to remember the Law of Moses primarily as seen the Two Greatest Commandments: to love GOD first, and to love our fellow man; returning us to all the 10 Commandments including GOD’s Shabbats; and like John the Baptist, preparing the way for YAHUSHUA and preparing a people to be ready for HIM, or else, face HIS Wrath. Here you may read an excerpt of a prophecy given to her in the year 2004:

Re-read all the Prophecies and you will see for many years I have called Elisabeth MY Elijah of New. Yes, her legal maiden name is Elijah, but that is not the reason I have done this. She only recently learned the reason and it is more than sending her to the widows of Zarephath to test them. And they know it not for their famine has not yet come, it is not just this reason as stated in many of the prophecies I have spoken through her. I audibly spoke to her on Passover, [that year falling on] April 5 (one day after her birthday) and told her, awakening her with the words she did not understand and only through this message will understand more fully “You are MY Ring maiden.”

Verily I say unto her and you with spiritual ears to hear and listen. I, YAHUSHUA call her MY Elijah of New and reveal these secret revelations given to her straight from Heaven to be a blessing unto her as well as the true Bride of YAHUSHUA ha MASHIACH. Just as Elijah of Old knew when to expect YAHUVEH's horse drawn Chariot of Fire to catch him away to Heaven and he knew the exact time and day and was prepared and warned Elisha in advance to watch him. Elijah of Old is the shadow of what will happen with the Bride, so why would I do any less for the Bride of YAHUSHUA? (Prophecy 76, “Beloved Bride of YAHUSHUA, Arise and Prepare Yourself for Your Bridegroom Doth Come!”)

When that Prophecy was given in 2004 and for the years following, Elisabeth Elijah did not know that: John the Baptist was also born during the Passover season according to the study of the New Testament Gospel accounts coupled with the Old Testament Levite Temple service rotation. Some believe he was born during the Passover, the 14th-15th of Adar; neither was she aware of the long standing tradition of the Jewish People to await Elijah’s ‘return’ during this time, as displayed in the tradition of opening a door for Elijah during the Passover Seder as the Fourth Cup, the Cup of Restoration, and the Cup of Elijah are poured and blessed.

Elisabeth Elijah was also born during Passover time and coincidentally, AmightyWind Ministries was also founded at the same time. Elisabeth Elijah does not claim to be anyone special and will always be the first to say “I’m the weakest of the lot” as GOD has also called her this. But, we know GOD uses the most humble, the most powerfully. We do not claim Elisabeth Elijah is the reincarnation of Elijah of Old, he has not literally returned. However, we do believe Elisabeth Elijah is a significant end time prophet, and carries Elijah of Old’s mantle, just as John the Baptist did before her. Therefore, GOD calls her HIS “Elijah of New”. Read  Prophetic Words concerning an “Elijah of New” given throughout the years:

I have warned through this prophetic handmaiden as I told Elijah of Old to speak forth and confront the prophets of Baal so I now use MY Elijah of New to do the same... MY Elijah of New speaks forth MY Words (Prophecy 38 – The Walls of Jericho will Fall Again).

I am YAHUVEH and I anointed Elijah of Old as I have anointed MY handmaiden who I call MY Elijah of New. You will be held responsible whether you are a blessing or a curse to her. I am anointing her to speak forth prophetic messages that few would dare to speak in fear of ridicule, but those who dare to mock, and deny this is "I AM" speaking know this, you have stuck a finger in I, YAHUVEH's eye. Don't believe ME just wait and watch and see if what I have prophesied comes to pass, then it will be too late, for those that curse and deny her now, woe unto those that dare to test I, YAHUVEH (Prophecy 58)!

I have sent you forth for years now and send you as MY Elijah of New to the widows of Zarephath in America and around the world and they knew not they were destitute for the time had not come but now it will soon be upon them. The ones in the store that did not like you and did not pray with you, nor help you, instead mocked the messages I have given you will be those that will suffer when the evil befalls this earth in a way it has not been shown before (Prophecy 66).

What will be your excuse when you stand before I, YAHUVEH in the not too distance future? You have been warned; those that bless this Jewish Handmaiden bless not only her but I, YAHUVEH and MY Son YAHUSHUA. Elisabeth is the one I call MY Elijah of New. I, YAHUVEH have sent her to the Widows of Zarephath and they know it not. You who refuse to help in this worldwide harvest field have no financial needs now, but you shall. I sent Elijah of Old to be a blessing to one widow, though the land was full of widows from the drought and famine. I knew in advance of a widow that would need a blessing and was willing to share her last meal with a prophet named Elijah even though she believed she and her son would eat it and die. She lived and was financially blessed and her cruse of oil did not run dry. I, YAHUVEH desire to do the same for you. It is no accident you have come to this Ministry and are reading these words now (Prophecy 75).

Hear O' Israel, Jerusalem and the rest of the World, as it is written, the one you call John the Baptist prepared the way for MY Son YAHUSHUA so it shall be again as MY Elijah of New prepares the way for the return of YAHUSHUA to rule and reign on earth like HE did in Heaven (Prophecy 87).

Jezebel tried to kill all MY Prophets and failed, and will always fail. Just as Elijah of Old I made a way of escape, so too I protect MY Elijah of New (Prophecy 92).

In 2008 [and beyond] the Prophetic Messages that will come forth will only grow stronger, with stronger meat for the Holy to eat. [Starting] in 2008 there will be a war like none other for it will be the true Holy Prophets standing just like Elijah did, Elijah of Old did and prophesying and exposing and destroying the prophets of Baal. This is why I called you Elisabeth, although your last name is [also] Elijah, I call you MY Elijah of New because I prophesy through you and just as Elijah of Old, the prophets of Baal shall be destroyed. Just because it doesn't happen in the way your flesh thinks it should be, think not for I tell you true, not one of them has escaped YAHUVEH's Judgment. If they could speak to you, they would tell you of the things that happen to them. Everyone who has spoken against the Words I have spoken through these Prophecies, they would tell you a tale of woe. Oh they would call it, "bad luck" but the tragedies that have befell them (Prophecy 93).

YAHUVEH is speaking very clearly if we are listening. HE has sent Elisabeth Elijah to herald the return of HIS SON YAHUSHUA! We give thanks and praise to ABBA YAHUVEH that in our hearing HE has sent “Elijah”! To announce the coming of the Holy ONE of Israel, YAHUSHUA our MASHIACH. Come YAHUSHUA! Come! YOUR Bride says, Come!

YAHUVEH will protect Spiritual Israel just as HE protected physical Israel when she obeyed HIM and put HIM first in her life and love. May we put YAHUVEH, YAHUSHUA and IMMAYAH, the RUACH ha KODESH first in our life and love. May we live with great anticipation that YAHUVEH has in fact sent Elijah of New and the coming of our MASHIACH is on the horizon! May we live with anticipation each day at our MASHIACH’s soon coming! Amen! Amen! Amen!
